<< Back Dr. Loretta Prater Selected to Attend Executive Academy
Dr. Loretta Prater, dean of the College of
Health and Human Services at Southeast Missouri State University, has
been selected to participate in the 2010-2011 Delta Leadership Institute
Executive Academy.
The Institute is inspired by the Delta Regional Authority’s three
goals: advance the productivity and economic competitiveness of the
Delta workforce; strengthen the Delta’s physical and digital connections
to the global economy; and create critical mass within Delta
communities.
Prater was chosen by Gov. Jay Nixon to represent the state of
Missouri in the exclusive academy’s fifth class. The Executive Academy
is a year-long professional development experience for regional leaders.
The states involved with the Delta Regional Authority are Alabama,
Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri and
Tennessee.
The experience starts in September and ends in June 2011. Throughout
that time, Prater will attend five meetings hosted my prominent speakers
over topics such as health, education, information technology and
education.
Initiated by the Delta Regional Authority, the purpose of the
Institute is to expose chosen leaders to the the challenges of the 21st
century and prepare them to make a direct impact on their communities
and states. At the academy, leaders will collaborate to solve
“real-world” problems faced by regional leaders.
The program’s success is based on the leaders returning to regional
communities and sharing their training at a local level. Once Prater
has finished the program, she is expected to facilitate incorporating a
regional development strategy into community building and seek
opportunities to work on important Delta Regional Authority projects.
