Golf Tournament Raises More Than $8,500 for Facilities Management Endowed Scholarship
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.-- The Kim King Memorial Golf
Tournament to help fund the newly established Facilities Management
Endowed Scholarship at Southeast Missouri State University raised more
than $8,500 Sept. 23.
The golf tournament, in honor of longtime Facilities
Management employee Kim King who died Dec. 27, was held at Bent Creek
Golf Course in Jackson, Mo. King, a 1984 graduate of Southeast, was
employed by Facilities Management for more than 32 years, having most
recently served as operations support manager and previously as stores
manager, accounting clerk and secretary of the Physical Plant and
The tournament netted $8,572.50 towards the $10,000 endowment mark.
Employees of the Facilities Management department established
the scholarship fund to honor and recognize former employees and
provide endowed scholarships to descendants and children of Southeast
Facilities Management employees. Along with the golf tournament,
proceeds from future special events planned in honor of former employees
will be added to the fund to continue to provide educational
opportunities for students at Southeast.
The Facilities Management Endowed Scholarship will be awarded
to a Southeast student with at least a 2.5 grade point average. First
preference will be given to descendants of former Facilities Management
employees for whom special fund-raising memorial events are sponsored by
the Facilities Management department. Second preference will be given
to children of employees in the Facilities Management department. Third
preference will be given to employees and retirees of the Facilities
